Preparing for the pharmacy school interview can be nerve racking with so many little things to worry about including what to bring with you to the actual interview. The main thing of concern is what is required by the school for you to bring. There usually is an interview section on each school’s website. Read these carefully to see what is required to bring.

What to Bring to the Interview

Some schools will require you to bring photo identification or e-mail invitation for the interview. You will also want to have proper dress attire for the interview. Everything else you bring to the interview is optional:

  • Portfolio folder
  • Notebook
  • Pen
  • Directions
  • Contact Names
  • List of Questions to ask
  • Extra copies of your personal statement or resume

What not to Bring to the Interview

It is also good to remember there are things that you should just leave at home. Smartphones and cell phones in general have become a necessity to most people. We use it for almost everything we do daily. It is permissible to bring your phone but make sure it is on silent or turned off for the interview. Here is a list of things you should not bring to the interview:

  • Snacks, Water, Coffee, Soda
  • Gum or Candy
  • Listening to your iPod while waiting for your interview
  • Hats
  • Another person (friend, family, or colleague)

If you are not sure what to bring to the interview and the website does not specify. It is a good idea to e-mail or call the school of pharmacy to check.

I hope the recommendations above will help guide, motivate, and inspire you to achieve your goals. Follow my blog for more tips and advice on how to become a pharmacist. What are your experiences? Please comment below and share your thoughts.
