Many of you know that I work in both Long Term Care (LTC) Pharmacy and Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy. In November I officially resigned from my full time job at the LTC Pharmacy. I am still working at the LTC as a Per-Diem Pharmacist.
I Quit My Pharmacist Job
It will soon be 3 years out since I first graduated Pharmacy School and my life time hours as a pharmacist working 2 jobs is approaching 4-5 years. I have been contemplating for a while now what to do with my pharmacy career. This has led me to the reason I would resign my full time position. Yes, I quit my pharmacist job. There was nothing particularly wrong with my full time position. Overall I enjoyed the people I worked with and the schedule was decent. The issue I had was that I started to become complacent and did not feel challenged anymore. This led me to search for other opportunities.
I have always wanted to pursue an informatics job but was never able to get into this area. I interviewed for a couple of jobs and unfortunately did not not get hired. I also applied to clinical pharmacist positions at hospitals around the Seattle area and was hired on full time!
It has been quite the struggle to get a inpatient clinical pharmacist position without having a residency. Luckily, I was finally able to get my foot in the door as a per diem pharmacist and was hired on full time. This opportunity will allow me to build my clinical skills. I learned from this experience that it is important to network. Always find ways to work with different people and put out your best effort. You never know who will help you out in the future with your job or life in general.
I am excited for this new chapter in my life and wanted to share with all my followers and readers. Thank you for the support!
